As we entered Junoon, one of the prominent Indian restaurants in New York city, we were received by two ladies on the reception desk, who warmly confirmed our reservation and guided us to the seats. This took about five minutes but is excusable keeping in mind the amount of rush and requests from guests pouring in.

At the entrance itself there is a board which reads “Patiala lounge” and as the name suggests it has a long bar counter and serves some of the finest wines apart from a medley of mocktails, cocktails, alcoholic beverages etc. The menu comprised of mouthwatering vegetarian and non vegetarian selections of starters and all of them are worthy of a try. Eggplant chaat grabbed my eyeballs as I browsed through the options and mama miya, it turned out to be an interesting, innovative and delicious delicacy. When it was time for mains I chose Nizami Paneer, Dal makhani, missi roti, plain roti and Zaffrani Zucchini Pulao. Out of these, I would highly recommend Nizami paneer. With a stuffing of khoya and nuts, these paneer triangles are coated with thin batter and sautéed, then left in a yummy, creamy tomato gravy to make it finger licking good, the fresh methi leaves used for garnish enhance the taste and texture of the dish. Enjoying it with yummy and well toasted missi roti made my evening memorable. The presentation is par excellence making it a treat for the eyes, tounge and belly. While the dal and plain roti were average, it was the Zaffrani Zucchini Pulao that stole my heart. The flavours of a western vegetable Zucchini was made to blend well with Indian ingredients giving it a fusion twist, it melted in the mouth and I only be could only vye for more. My friends who savoured the murgh tikka and other non veg varieties too were all praise for the taste and presentation. The delectable deserts provide a toothsome finish to your meal.

The main dining room is the inside area of the restaurant, the ambience has an Indo-American vibe. It has a set menu. Usually a three course menu where they serve you with love and affection on your table, course by course, and you can relish each of them while chatting with friends and family . The charges here are per head and it's a good place for a lone diner as much as it is for those planning to dutch the bill or are in for a sumptuous celebration.

The overall atmosphere of the place is lively and busting with guests from all parts of the world. Good smell and fresh flower arrangements are bound to draw attention, lighting is not too loud or dim, most of the seating comprises of chairs. A special mention needs to be made about the courteous staff. Our server Danial was very polite, had great knowledge about the house wines and was prompt in attending to our needs while

dining. He clicked some amazing pictures for us too. The eye-catcher were a group of customers who caught my attention because of their attire, all the boys were dressed in red kurta and pyjama and all the ladies were wearing same gharchola bandhani sarees and they belonged to different countries thus making it seem like a replica of a scene from a Karan Johar movie.

With names of prominent Chef Vikas Khanna and Chef Akshay Bharadwaj pinned to it, Junoon provided an unforgettable experience for me and I am sure is bound to impress anyone who forays towards this Michelin star restaurant. Let me sign off by saying, “Junoon, a Michelin star Indian restaurant with marvellous food and wine adds a feather in the cap of Manhattan”.
